DSM Instructional – Workstation
Configuration
These instructions cover the workstation configuration
options in DSM.
Note: Workstation configuration options are
unique to the computer they’re set on. Administrators
CANNOT change workstation configuration options for other users.
Go to File >
Workstation Configuration and you will see the following screen:
General Settings (F2)
The information here is basic but you can choose a few
options.
1.
Typically, you’ll share the settings on the
workstation and it is default for those companies which host their own data.
2.
Each users who logs in maintains separate
configuration files, if checked, would be for Terminal server configurations
where one log in (using Terminal services) yet they use their own login to
DSM. This would keep each users workstation unique to their liking.
3.
Peak Software Cloud configuration. If checked, sets it into Cloud mode but is not
necessary to check if you are using the Cloud because it will automatically be
checked for you.
4.
Only check the “use operating systems native zip
functionality” if using a WINDOWS XP computer.
Otherwise, leave as is.
Tech / Network (F3)
Typically, you’ll leave the options here as they are but if
you need to change them to allow your computer to view other items it cannot
view (such as backups or the stored documents folders) you would change them
here.
Http connectivity refers to the way the computer either
updates DSM or sends backups to Peak Software.
Default is IE and is usually suitable for most installatations. FTP connectivity
functions in a similar fashion for connections to Peak for upates.
Normally, you need to change nothing here unless instructed
by Support.
